Facebook redesigns Settings menu in app, rolls out simplified options – Times of India

Social networking website Facebook has announced that it is set to update its mobile app’s settings menu. A part of the new redesign will streamline the settings page on mobile. The new layout is set to be rolled out for all the users later this week, according to the company. The new look for the Settings section will be live for Android, iOS, mobile web, and Facebook Lite.
According to the company, the new Setting section design is aimed to make it easier for users to navigate and find tools.
“Whether it’s managing the ads people see, adjusting sharing settings, or curating an audience for posts, people shouldn’t have to think too hard about where to start,” said the company.
As part of the new layout, Facebook has reduced the number of categories and renamed them to more closely “match people’s mental models,”
This means that Settings are now grouped into broad categories — Account, Preferences, Audience and Visibility, Permissions, Your Information, and Community Standards and Legal Policies. Each of these contains several related settings.
Besides this, it has also relocated several standalone settings along with related setting options. “For example, the News Feed setting, which previously lived in a smaller category of its own, now lives under Preferences where it is grouped with similar settings,” said the company.
The company has also unbundled the Privacy Settings category and moved the settings previously contained within it into other categories. This will easily guide users through important privacy and security settings on Facebook. The company has added another shortcut to Privacy Checkup, right at the top of the Settings landing page.
