Fans React to Apple Vision Pro Announcement With Memes, Shock Over Price Point

Apple announced its new Vision Pro headset today, and the point that’s sticking with people the most is the price tag: $3500. The new mixed reality headset is coming in 2024, and it will allow users to work, socialize, and watch movies all within the visor. Vision Pro will make use of the all-new VisionOS, designed specifically for spatial computing.

There are a lot of details to digest, but the internet can’t get over the price. In fact, so many Twitter users are feeling sticker shock from Apple’s announcement today that “For $3500” is trending on Twitter right now.

The Internet Reacts to Apple Vision Pro’s $3500 Price Tag

$3500 is a big number for the Vision Pro, and the internet is talking about it from every angle. From jokes about being able to actually fight people on Twitter, to tough choices between buying a car or a Vision Pro, here are some of the internet’s reactions to the hefty price tag.

Then, of course, some Twitter users took the more logical angle, arguing that the Vision Pro isn’t for regular consumers at all. It’s for tech companies and developers to buy into to start creating an ecosystem for VisionOS, so it’s ready for mass market in a few years time when Apple inevitably releases a cheaper, more entry-level version of the Vision Pro.

The Vision Pro Is Already a Big Meme Target

People are talking about plenty beyond just the cost of the Vision Pro with the usual slate of memes. There’s a very timely meme in reference to a VR bit from the latest season of I Think You Should Leave, and classics like Nicole Kidman’s AMC ads. Plus, some are planning to use the Vision Pro for some Funky Kong ASMR, while others immediately noticed some similarities between Vision Pro’s UI and the PlayStation Vita.

Despite all the buzz, the Vision Pro wasn’t the only announcement from Apple today. For more, check out all the biggest announcements from the Apple WWDC 2023 keynote, including a surprise appearance from Hideo Kojima.
