Fantasy Injury Updates: Are Julio Jones, Chase Edmonds, Calvin Ridley coming off IR in Week 14?

Julio Jones, Chase Edmonds, and Calvin Ridley have each been out for at least four weeks on the IR or reserve/NFI list and they are all eligible to return in Week 14. The fantasy football playoffs start in Week 15 for most leagues, so a return from any these key players could be perfect timing for a late-season boost. We have the latest updates below so you can prepare your lineups in this final week of the fantasy regular season.

WEEK 14: Top waiver pickups

Julio Jones injury update

There isn’t a ton of new information on Jones (hamstring), but he’s been on IR for three games plus a bye week, so hopefully, a month off gave him time to heal up for your fantasy team. With A.J. Brown (chest) on IR until at least Week 16, Jones would likely be the clear-cut No. 1 WR in an offense that desperately needs him heading into a Week 14 matchup with the Jaguars.

The Jags ranked as the 11th-worst defense against fantasy WRs before giving up touchdowns to Cooper Kupp, Odell Beckham Jr., and Van Jefferson, so while Jones could be a risky play here, the upside is clearly there if he’s healthy. He ranks as our WR19 in standard and WR20 in PPR leagues. Golden Tate might make his Titans debut here, but we have no idea what his usage with be. If you have room on your roster, you could pick him up as a flier.

Chase Edmonds injury update

Last week, Kliff Kingsbury implied Edmonds (ankle) would return in Week 14 against the Rams. He hasn’t played since early in Week 9, but after three missed games and a bye week, it’s believed he’ll be ready to resume his role as receiving/change-of-pace back in Arizona’s dynamic offense.

Edmonds was playing at an RB2/flex level before his injury, and even though James Conner has picked up his play to compensate for Conner’s absence, chances are they’ll fall back into their customary split. That meant around 13 touches and 80 total yards per game for Edmonds. He scored just once, but more TDs are always possible. Either way, Edmonds should be started almost every week, especially in PPR leagues.

Calvin Ridley injury update

There are no updates on Ridley’s status, as he remains on the reserve/NFI list, but we are early in the week, so we’ll stay tuned for any Ridley news later on. We likely wouldn’t hear anything until later on Monday or Tuesday, so just keep your eyes and ears peeled. Ultimately, there’s a chance he doesn’t play again this year, so of course, remain hopeful for his return, but don’t count on it, and make sure you stack as much wide receiver depth as you can.

Russell Gage is operating as Matt Ryan’s No. 1 WR, and even in a daunting matchup with Carolina, he should be considered in the flex due to his heavy target volume in recent weeks.
