WEEK 5 WAIVERS: Top pickups

Logan Thomas injury update

Thomas suffered a non-contact hamstring injury in the first quarter against the Falcons and was ruled out for the rest of the game. For now, we don’t know the severity of the injury, but Thomas was visibility frustrated and we’ve already seen A.J. Brown and Christian McCaffrey miss games with hamstring issues. That said, he could be back next week or miss several games. The range of outcomes is wide.

We’re preparing for Thomas to miss Week 5 against the Saints, which means Ricky Seals-Jones would step in as Washington’s primary tight end. The Saints haven’t been all that friendly to the position, so Seals-Jones is our TE22 in standard leagues and TE21 in PPR. Terry McLaurin has been the only reliable pass-catcher in the offense, so there is an opportunity for him here, though, and we know he has the talent to make big plays. If Thomas is slated to miss multiple games, RSJ is an interesting flier.

WEEK 5 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Will Fuller injury update

Fuller (hand) was injured in the second quarter against the Colts and did not return. He has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, so this one is obviously concerning. The Dolphins will run tests on his injured hand, but we have no further information at this time.

DeVante Parker and Jaylen Waddle should see more targets, but it’s hard to set their expectations high with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. However, TE Mike Gesicki does seem to benefit from Brissett starting and is back in the TE1 discussion. For Week 5, we have Waddle and Parker as the WR44 and WR47 in standard leagues and WR49 and WR46 in PPR, respectively. Neither should be viewed as more than a low-end flex option.

WEEK 5 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

DJ Chark injury update

Chark fractured his ankle on Thursday night and will be out for the foreseeable future. The injury is unfortunate for Chark, who was having a decent season, but as is always the case with injuries, it will open more opportunities for other guys. When Chark went down on Thursday, Laviska Shenault was targeted seven times, catching six passes for 99 yards. He was getting deep targets after only getting the shallow targets in the weeks prior. That said, his future prospects look brighter. The same goes for Marvin Jones Jr. even though he was ineffective in Week 4.

Jones Jr. is our WR32 in PPR and WR28 in standard leagues this week. Shenault comes in at WR39 in PPR and WR43 in standard. That said, they’ll face the Titans in Week 5, who just got carved up by Zach Wilson, Corey Davis, and Jamison Crowder so the Jacksonville receivers have high ceilings this week if Trevor Lawrence can get going.
