Fernandes set to continue remarkable feat as Man Utd star spotted

Fernandes was considered a doubt for the trip to north London after picking up an injury in last Sunday’s FA Cup final against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 28-year-old looked in pain after turning his ankle in the turf during the first half of United’s triumph over the Seagulls.

He played on until the 101st minute but left Wembley Stadium wearing a protective boot and was pictured nursing his right foot on his sofa on social media on Monday.

Erik ten Hag confirmed there was a question mark over his head in his pre-match press conference.

However, the Mirror have released a batch of images showing United’s players starting their journey to the capital, and Fernandes was among them.

Fernandes has undoubtedly been one of the most successful signings at Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

The Portuguese maestro’s quality lifts the level of Ten Hag’s side, but his availability has proven just as important since joining in a £47million deal from Sporting Club.

Since the start of the 2020/21 campaign, Fernandes has missed just four games, mainly through suspension.

Just one of his absences has been caused by illness, and he’s yet to miss a single game in his career due to an injury.

His endurance is commendable, making a staggering 50 appearances this season, more than any other player in world football.

Given the hosts’ struggles with applying an effective press, Fernandes could thrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

If he starts, he should receive time and space on the ball to attempt to do what he does best, create chances and score goals.

United would move eight points ahead of fifth-place Aston Villa with a win and nine clear of Tottenham with two games in hand.

Victory would undoubtedly allow Fernandes, Ten Hag and the Red Devils’ fanbase to start dreaming of a Champions League return next term.
