Final Fantasy XIV Housing Demolition Paused After Turkey-Syria Earthquake
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV housing demolition will be suspended for the time being following the earthquake disasters in Turkey and Syria.
On February 6, an earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria causing massive destruction, with reports stating that more than 22,000 people in total have died, with rescue efforts ongoing.
In a recent blog post, Square Enix said that it would be halting housing demolition in Final Fantasy XIV–a service that reclaims housing estates if the player doesn’t enter their lot within a set number of days–in light of recent events. “From all of us on the FF14 development and management team, our hearts go out to those who were affected by the massive earthquake that occurred in southeastern Turkey on Monday, February 6,” the developer said.
“Due to the damages and other factors, we have decided to temporarily suspend the automatic demolition of estates. The timer has been stopped again after a short period in light of the damage and circumstances of the people affected by the disaster. We ask for your consideration and understanding.”
It’s unclear at this time when auto-demolition will be activated again, but Square Enix will be monitoring the situation and inform players of any changes. “It is our sincere hope that recovery is swift, and those of you who were affected will be able to rejoin us in Eorzea soon,” the developer added.
