Final Fantasy XIV’s Stormblood Expansion Is Now Free Until May
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV’s second major expansion, Stormblood, is now free to obtain for a limited time.
The developer shared the promotion today in a Twitter post, offering players the opportunity to add the expansion to their Square Enix accounts, free of charge, from March 27-May 8. The $20 Final Fantasy XIV Starter Edition–which comes with A Realm Reborn and the Heavensward expansion–and an active subscription are still required in order to play the Stormblood expansion.

Once redeemed, Stormblood will be registered to the player’s accounts and will not be removed after the campaign ends on May 8. The offer is platform-wide, allowing both PC and PlayStation players to get their hands on the expansion.
Stormblood launched in 2017 and is the second expansion following Heavensward. Players will be able to unlock two new Jobs– Samurai and Red Mage–and explore the Far East of Eorzea. Right now, another Free Login Campaign is also currently underway for players who have taken a break from the MMO and wish to return for free for a limited time. This campaign offers 96 hours of game time and will end on May 8.
The next installment in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy XVI, is set to launch for PS5 on June 22, 2023. The game will reportedly take around 35 hours to finish the campaign and around 70-80 hours to earn 100% completion.
