Final Fantasy XVI Demo Is Out Now, Progress Transfers To Full Game
As part of the game’s pre-launch celebration livestream, Square Enix announced the release of a demo for Final Fantasy XVI, and it’s out now on PS5. This demo contains the opening prologue of the game as well as special battle section. You can download it on the PlayStation Store.
After clearing the prologue, players can access the special battle where Clive has some additional Eikonic abilities unlocked. Additionally, save data from the demo can be carried over to the full game when it’s released. However, players cannot save progress from the special battle section.
Square Enix also released a new trailer titled “Ascension,” which you can watch above. It shows Clive face off against the numerous Dominants and Eikons throughout the game, including Titan, Bahamut, and Odin.
The game currently doesn’t have any DLC planned yet, as the development is waiting to see its reception first. Additionally, there apparently won’t be a day-one patch.
Final Fantasy XVI will release on June 22 for PlayStation 5. In GameSpot’s hands-on Final Fantasy XVI preview, we said, “As intriguing as the story has been thus far, and as hyped as I am about the stylish-action combat, part of me still holds onto this abstract idea of what Final Fantasy is, and this new mainline entry may be deviating further from it than ever before.”
