Fire Emblem Engage Romance Options: Can You Romance Characters?

Fire Emblem Engage romance options

The answer is a very qualified yes, Fire Emblem Engage does have romance options, of a sort. Fire Emblem: Three Houses had a very detailed social interaction system that took place over many years and ultimately let you marry one of several romantic partners, including those outside of your own House if you played your cards right. The system in Engage is not nearly as robust, so for fans of Three Houses, this will feel much smaller.

As you progress through Fire Emblem Engage, you’ll bond with characters by fighting alongside them in battle, and that will open up Support conversations to take place in the Somniel. Those support conversations can sometimes be overtly flirtatious, but they are also often platonic as well, or even just humorous. Those support conversations will raise your bond level with your friends, from C to B to A.

The culmination of these romance options occurs near the end of the game. After finishing Chapter 23, you’ll open a Paralogue chapter called the Garden of Memories. Finishing this battle will award you with a special item, the Pact Ring. You can then find the Pact Ring in the Memento Drawer of your room in the Somniel.

Then you can find your chosen paramour in the Somniel. (As the game notes, if your chosen one isn’t at the Somniel at the time, you can take a nap in bed and see if they come around.) Once you’ve achieved Support Level A, you can give them the Pact Ring to trigger a special conversation. After that their support level will have an icon of a ring next to it, and you can find a special page describing the relationship in your Ally Notebook.
