Steps to use the feature to get flood alerts on iPhone
Apple iPhone’s Weather app comes with the option to enable Severe weather notifications. Once enabled, the app automatically sends notifications about adverse weather in the surrounding area.
How to enable Severe weather alerts to get flood notifications on iPhone
- Open the Weather app and tap on the List icon in the low-right corner
- Tap on Notifications
- Enable Severe weather toggle
- Also, choose the location for which you want to enable this notification for
Once the feature is enabled, the Weather app on iPhone will automatically start showing the flood, rain and other bad weather warnings within the app as well as on the lock screen, given you’ve added the Weather widget on the lock screen.
Steps to get flood alerts and warnings on Android
Most Android phone makers include their own Weather app. But, they may or may not have a weather warning feature built into them. However, the Google app provides necessary weather updates along with weather alerts in the area and it works across all Android devices as well as on iPhone.
- Download and Install the Google app on your phone
- Make sure you’ve enabled Weather Notifications for the app
- For this, tap on the profile icon, head to Settings → Notifications → Enable Weather forecast, Public Alerts and Current conditions toggles.
- Head back to the Google app, tap on the Weather widget at the top
- Here, you’ll see the current weather conditions along with other weather alerts that have been issued in your region.
You can also add the Google Weather app on the home screen by tapping on the three dots at the top right corner and selecting Add to home screen option.
