Floyd Mayweather has confirmed he has agreed to rematch Conor McGregor in 2023 but the pair are yet to decide whether the highly-anticipated contest will be a professional or exhibition bout. Money, who secured the 50th and final win of his pro career when he successfully stopped the UFC superstar in August 2017, has since boxed in a host of exhibition contests since his retirement as he continues to relish the challenge of climbing through the ropes.
It’s understood the boxing Hall of Famer netted a jaw-dropping £247million from the showpiece with Mayweather now in line for another bumper payday.

Now he has revealed to The Mail that he plans to face rival McGregor for a second time next year in a major development for fight fans around the world.
He declared: “I want to go out there this weekend and have fun [against Mikuru Asakura]. Then I have another exhibition Dubai in November and me and Conor McGregor in 2023.

Now he has revealed to The Mail that he plans to face rival McGregor for a second time next year.
Mayweather told The Mail: “I want to go out there this weekend and have fun [against Mikuru Asakura]. Then I have another exhibition Dubai in November and me and Conor McGregor in 2023.
“We don’t know if it’s going to be an exhibition of a real fight. But there’s been talks of both. I would prefer an exhibition.”
When asked why he would prefer an exhibition, Mayweather added: “I am not into fights where I am going to take any real punishment.”
McGregor has spent 14 months out of the octagon having lost three of his last four UFC bouts.
The latest of which saw McGregor break his leg in his trilogy contest with Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas, an injury that has seen The Notorious take an extended break from the sport.
Speaking at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this year, McGregor outlined his desire to return to the world of boxing after uploading a video onto social media of him hitting the pads.
He told Sky Sports: “Boxing is my first love in combat sports. I had such a great time the last time I was out there.
“Obviously, my return will be in the octagon for UFC – that story is far from over, in fact it’s just being written, it is just the beginning. But, boxing, for sure I will grace the squared circle again in the future.”
Mayweather couldn’t resist a cheeky swipe at his old rival – stating McGregor does not hit as hard as a professional boxer.
He added: “Guys like Conor McGregor and guys that don’t really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I don’t really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals but nothing where I am going to put myself in a position where I am going to harm myself or hurt myself.”
In November 2018, Mayweather travelled to Tokyo, Japan for his first-ever exhibition match where he successfully stopped Tenshin Nasukawa in round one.
After a two-year absence, the five-division world champion returned to action to face Logan Paul in February 2021 at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami.
Some 15 months later, Mayweather would return to the ring once more as he successfully beat former sparring partner Don Moore in Abu Dhabi.
