Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul odds, predictions, betting trends for 2021 fight

Floyd Mayweather will face YouTube sensation Logan Paul in a special eight-round exhibition bout on June 6 in Miami. It’s an utter mismatch on paper as the undefeated five-division world champion has beaten a plethora of present and future hall of famers while Logan Paul lost his only professional boxing match against a fellow YouTuber. 

But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a way to make money betting on the fight. It does have some special rules in place but that shouldn’t deter anyone who finds an opportunity. Mayweather never shows up to do anything less than entertain and Paul is only here because he simply can’t pass up the opportunity to step into the ring with one of the greatest boxers of all time. 

Let’s take a look at the betting lines and see where opportunities are to make some money.

These odds are absolutely obscene. In no universe should Logan Paul have better odds of beating Mayweather than Andre Berto did. Mayweather was a massive -3000 favorite against Berto and is only a -909 against Paul. Why? Who knows. But unless you have a lot of money to put down — it’ll take $909 dollars to make $100 if you bet on Mayweather —  stay away from this betting line. As tempted as you might be to put money down on Paul, don’t. It’s not worth it.

Here’s where you’ll find the most betting bang for your buck. But you’ll have to be pretty particular in selecting which round that Mayweather decides to end the fight. It’s really up to him to determine when he’s done playing around and put an end to the YouTuber masquerading as a boxer. 

First things first: Eliminate any possibility of betting on Logan Paul. As tempting as these odds may seem, there’s no chance that he’ll beat an undefeated fighter who has faced a plethora of champions throughout his career. 

The most plausible betting line is Mayweather by (T)KO at -227, which means you would have to bet $227 in order to earn a $100 profit should Mayweather end the fight via knockout. But if that’s too expensive for your tastes considering that you would have to bet a hefty amount to see a decent return, betting on Mayweather to finish the fight early in highly likely. Unlike his fight with Conor McGregor where it appeared that Mayweather wanted to carry McGregor long enough to draw interest in a rematch, there’s no reason for Mayweather to drag this fight into the later rounds. For one, Paul is bigger and there’s always a risk that Paul could attempt to hurt Mayweather in other ways. Secondly, there’s absolutely no reason for Mayweather to make Paul look good. Anything longer than a couple of rounds will make the undefeated champion look like he’s lost a step. 

Consider what Mayweather did to Tenshin Nasukawa back in December 2018 in his only other exhibition. Mayweather wasted little time with his kickboxing opponent and thrashed him inside of one round. With possible eyes on a showdown with Logan’s younger brother Jake, Mayweather will likely make an example out of his June 6 opponent. Not to mention that Jake Paul stealing Mayweather’s hat at the press conference has likely incensed the 44-year-old to put on a stellar display of punishment.

Expect Mayweather to put an end to Paul within three rounds. With rounds one and two at +500 and round three at +800, spreading the bet across those rounds should likely yield a healthy profit. A $100 bet on either round one or two will bring back a $500 profit while the same wager on round three will bring back $800.
