Garmin has launched two new smartwatches under its Forerunner lineup–the Forerunner 955 Solar and Forerunner 255–in the US. The new smartwatches come as an upgrade over the existing models and offer features like solar charging, multi-band GPS and more.
Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar: Features
Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar now comes with solar charging technology just like we have seen with the Fenix 7 Solar watch from the company. It comes with Power Glass solar charging lens which, Garmin claims, will offer up to 49 hours of battery life in GPS mode and 20 days in smartwatch mode.
In addition to that, the watch comes with a full touchscreen display. The display could also be set to always-on. Other features of the watch include multi-band GPS, training readiness, HRV status and more. The Forerunner 955 Solar also comes with a new Race widget which shows users essential information like weather, performance, prediction, etc.
The watch also comes with health tracking features like body battery, pulse oximeter, menstrual cycle, pregnancy tracking, notifications, etc.
Garmin Forerunner 255: Features
Garmin has also updated the Forerunner 255 smartwatch and the new model is available in two sizes: 41mm and 46mm. Both the sizes are available in two models — regular and music.
Garmin claims that the watch offers 14 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and 30 hours in GPS mode. The Forerunner 255 also comes with multi-band GPS support and HDV tracking including real-time stamina, running power metrics and Garmin Pay.
