Former NFL Star Digs Up A GameFAQs Thread To Try To Dunk On His Rival

Two former NFL cornerbacks are throwing jabs at each other on social media, which has hilariously led to one of them bringing up an old GameFAQs thread in their back and forth. It all apparently started when Asante Samuel alluded to New York media overhyping players in that market.

Sports Illustrated reports this led Revis, a soon-to-be Hall of Fame cornerback who played for the New York Jets, to go after Samuel after he seemingly implied a current Jet–Sauce Gardner–was overrated as a defensive back in the NFL. Samuel countered with a GameFAQs post (a GameSpot sister site) from apparently 8 years ago on Twitter.

It’s not every day you see a two-time Super Bowl champion pull up a video game forum to make an argument on Twitter. But Revis didn’t seem too bothered by the attempted dunk, retweeting stuff about Samuel on the social media site. For those unfamiliar, Revis was also a Super Bowl champion and nicknamed Revis Island. He will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next month.

Since a video game forum is part of this beef, maybe Revis and Samuel can settle their debate in Madden NFL 24. The next game in the long-running NFL football game series will launch August 18.

This year, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen serves as the cover athlete for Madden 24.
