NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Poll
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Four Mid-South Conference softball teams are ranked in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Poll, the national office announced Wednesday.
Campbellsville (Ky.) is the highest-ranked conference in the poll at No. 10. The Tigers earned 351 points in the poll. Campbellsville went 41-13 last season while capturing a share of the MSC regular season championship and winning the conference tournament. The Tigers also made it to the NAIA Opening Round.
Freed-Hardeman begins the season at No. 15 after earning 241 points in the poll. The Lions went 46-13 last season and reached the NAIA Opening Round.
Cumberlands is ranked No. 22 in the poll. The Patriots received 139 points in the poll and were 41-16 a year ago.
Lindsey Wilson is right behind the Patriots. The Blue Raiders earned 125 points in the poll. Last season, Lindsey Wilson won a share of the MSC regular season championship while going 39-11 and making the NAIA Opening Round.
Oregon Tech sits atop the poll with 498 points and 17 of the 18 first-place votes. College of Idaho is second with 473 points while Science & Arts (Okla.) is third with 460 and the final first-place vote.
Oklahoma City and Southern Oregon round out the top five with 421 and 416 points, respectively.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
The first regular season poll is scheduled to come out on Wednesday, March 9.
