Freeview issues two-day warning that could leave you without TV signal
If you use Freeview for your fix of nightly entertainment then you could be facing two days of disruption to your viewing. The popular TV platform has just issued important guidance due to the current barmy weather wreaking havoc with its TV signal. It appears that the band of high pressure currently hovering over the UK is disrupting tellies and weakening the picture quality.
“Freeview viewers across parts of the country could see some disruption to their TV reception between Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th October. This is due to high pressure which could disrupt the TV signals which Freeview uses,” explained Freeview in a new post on its blog.
Although you might be experiencing an annoying fuzzy screen it’s vital not to start messing about with the settings or trying to retune things as this won’t make any difference and will simply end up costing you time and effort.
“You are advised not to retune your TV during this time – reception will be restored once the high pressure passes,” Freeview added.

If you are affected by this latest disruption then Freeview suggests trying a different way to tune in. The Freeview Play service offers live and on-demand content via your broadband rather than over the airwaves.
This means it’s not affected by the weather or high pressure.
Most modern smart TVs, along with devices such as Fire TV Sticks, have access to this service. You can also catch up using smartphones, tablets and consoles.
It’s totally free to use and could help bring back a pin-sharp image to your telly.
Explaining more, Freeview said: “If you have an internet-connected Freeview Play TV, or one that has the players available to view, you will still be able to watch live and on-demand content from the likes of BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All4 or My5. Alternatively, you can watch Freeview via our mobile app which is available to download for free from your app store or on a web browser via our online TV Guide.”
