FSG stance on selling Mo Salah becomes clear as Liverpool owners face ‘impossible’ task

Mohamed Salah’s world-class form this season has seen fans across the world wax lyrical about his performances in both the Premier League and Champions League. And Fenway Sports Group – owners of the Reds – have reportedly let their stance on the Egyptian known amid growing uncertainty over his future.

Salah, 29, has been in imperious form for Liverpool this season, registering a goal or assist every 62 minutes.

After yet another goal in the Champions League against AC Milan on Tuesday night – his seventh in six European games – the star is arguably the best player in the world on current form.

Yet with his contract set to run out in 18 months, Liverpool fans are urging the club’s owners to sanction a new deal for the Egyptian.

Talks have stagnated in recent weeks with Salah’s demands reportedly holding up an agreement but The Athletic’s James Pearce has alleviated fears by suggesting the owners are not looking to sell Salah in any way whatsoever.

“I can only say a few things but I’m not sure if it’s translated [wrongly] and it’s an issue.

“Mo is fine, I am fine. I think what we all want is clear things. It needs time, that is it.”

Liverpool await their next opponents in the Champions League knockout stages, with the draw taking place on Monday.
