Fury threatens to slap Paul at ringside after Bamba fight
Tommy Fury has threatened to slap Jake Paul at ringside after his fight with Paul Bamba on November 13. Paul recently announced that he would be attending Fury’s fight, which is set to take place on the Floyd Mayweather vs Deji Olatunji undercard on November 13 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
His opponent, Bamba, is 5-2 as a professional and is very much an unknown quantity in the sport having spent the majority of his career partaking in small-scale contests across North and South America. His two losses come to losing journeymen, 3-5 Derrick Van and 1-7 Abraham Velazquez Salazar but is now getting set for his toughest test to date.
Paul will be keeping a close eye on the co-main event with Fury among those considered for his next fight. However, Fury isn’t taking too much notice.
“I’m not interested who’s there. There could be a million Jake Paul’s sat ringside. My mindset is laser focussed on Paul Bamba, getting him out the way then I’ll jump out ringside and slap him in the face,” said Fury at a recent media event.
Then, a few weeks before their August re-booking, the bout agreement was terminated after Fury was denied entry to the United States – where the showdown was set to take place. Now, with the recent news that Fury is still banned from the United States, ‘TNT’ has urged Paul to face him in the United Kingdom.
Responding to the proposition, Paul told the MMA Hour: “Yeah, I love going to those crowds because they all boo me, and I shut them up. I like playing the role of the heel, especially in the UK.”
He added: “Yeah, there’s definitely interest, I think if his team is taking the financial risk and putting the event on then I’m cool. I just don’t want to take that risk because I think he’s going to back out again, most likely.
“It’s an easy fight for me, the kid’s a novice, he’s never even fought anyone good, he’s never even had an eight-round fight, he doesn’t have the experience I have which is crazy to say because he’s been boxing his whole life.”
