Game of Thrones’ Ciarán Hinds Joins The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2

Game of Thrones actor Ciarán Hinds is joining The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in Season 2.

Amazon has announced that Hinds will be joined by Roby Kinnear of James Bond fame and Tanya Moodle of Motherland and Sherlock. The characters each actor is portraying in The Rings of Power is yet to be revealed.

Hinds played Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones, the King Beyond the Wall and leader of the Free Folk. He was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA for his supporting role in Belfast, and his starred in several other films and TV series including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Justice League, and Rome.

As for Kinnear, he’s arguably best known for portraying Bill Tanner in the James Bond films Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. He’s also appeared in Alex Garland’s Men, Bank of Dave, Broken, and more.

Moodie won the Royal Television Society’s Breakthrough Award for her role of Meg in Motherland and has starred in several other series including Hunter, Tin Star, A Discovery of Witches, and Sherlock. She also had a brief appearance in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker as General Parnadee.

The three will join several other actors confirmed for Season 2 of The Rings of Power. Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, and Nicholas Woodeso will all make their debut, alongside Sam Hazeldine who will take over from Joseph Mawle as Orc Leader Adar.

As for directing talent, Amazon has already confirmed that Charlotte Brändström, Louise Hooper, and Sanaa Hamri will lead Season 2. The trio have credits on The Witcher, The Sandman, and The Wheel of Time.

Season 2 of The Rings of Power is currently in production in the UK with no premiere date revealed so far. In our 8/10 review of Season 1, IGN said: “Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power captures the epic scope and beauty of Tolkien’s work.”
