Gattaca TV Reboot in the Works for Showtime by Homeland Creators

Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, the creators of Showtime’s Homeland, have reportedly partnered with Craig Borent, the screenwriter behind the acclaimed film Dallas Buyers Club, to reboot the 1997 movie Gattaca into a TV show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources close to the project claim that the show is being eyed with “a sizable commitment” at Paramount Global cabler and is the first new project to be made under the leadership of Chris McCarthy.

The report goes on to further explain that other Paramount Network execs such as MTV and Comedy Central have leaned more into creating more spin-offs for franchises such as Dexter and Billions. But other unnamed projects have been shelved due to them not fitting into the “cabler’s new programming strategy.”

The Gattaca TV reboot has been in the works at Showtime for over a month. McCarthy previously mentioned that he had wanted to reboot a well-known film and turn it into a franchise.

Sony’s Columbia Pictures produced the original movie. It takes place in a dystopian future, starring Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. In the movie eugenics is legal, and children are born through genetic selection to ensure they receive the best traits possible.
