The long-awaited film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima has received a rather disappointing update from director, Chad Stahelski.
In an interview with Total Film (via Slash Film), Stahelski claimed that the Ghost of Tsushima adaptation would be his “favourite to do next.” He said, “Without going into crazy detail, it’s something I’m super-interested in.” Stahelski further revealed that despite having a brilliant team of creatives backing the film, the problem behind the delay revolves around the business aspect.
“We have a really great script. We have a really good creative team behind it,” shared Stahelski. “It’s just about getting all the business end of things locked in. It’s kind of in that little bit of flux where everybody is trying to tighten up the deal to get everything going, and to make sure we do the best with it.”
News about the film adaptation of the hit PlayStation title came in 2021, when Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions first announced the project with the man behind John Wick series as its director. Since then, not a lot of development has happened, except for the addition of Takashi Doscher as the film’s screenwriter.
Stahelski has maintained that the project is far from beginning production. “There’s just a lot of things to put together before we really pull the trigger on making it, mostly from my side creatively,” stated the John Wick director. “And we’re in that process right now, trying to pull everything together so we knock it out of the park.”
