Gmail and Calendar apps may soon arrive on Wear OS smartwatches – Times of India

Google’s Wear OS has come a long way, and now Google even has its smartwatch. After introducing a number of first-party apps for Wear OS, it may bring two more apps – Gmail and Calendar – to the Wear OS-powered smartwatches.
Ever since the inception of WearOS, neither Gmail nor Calendar has been natively available on WearOS. There was only the option to read the notifications from these two apps, but that is set to change soon as the two apps arrive on Wear OS.
9to5Google reports that Google has been working on Gmail and Calendar apps for the WearOS, which means it will soon be available on the likes of Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, Pixel Watch, and a few other Wear OS-powered smartwatches. As per the report, Google is currently testing the two apps on its own Pixel Watch, but the feature will also be available on other Wear OS-powered smartwatches.
Google’s Calendar app may replace Agenda app on Wear OS smartwatches
As of now, the only app to do anything with the calendar on the Pixel Watch is the Agenda app. While it serves the basic purpose of a calendar app, it lacks some important features. You can not view the calendar in the month or week view, and the app shows the events for the next three days, which makes it rather useless compared to the calendar app on Galaxy Watches and the one on your Android smartphone.
You may soon be able to read the whole email on your Wear OS smartwatches
As for emails, you can only read an excerpt of the email through notifications. What is weird is that Outlook has a WearOS app while Gmail does not, and there is even an email app on the Apple Watch. So, it is high time that Google brings Gmail to WearOS.
We do not know when these two apps will be available on WearOS smartwatches. Also, it is unclear whether the Gmail and Calendar apps will be a Pixel Watch exclusive at first or will be coming to every Wear OS-powered smartwatch.
