Google Chrome unleashed personalisation power with new desktop customisations
Google is introducing personalised features for its Chrome Web browser on desktop. With over 2.65 billion users worldwide, the browser will now offer enhanced customization options, allowing community members to explore various themes and colours. To provide tailored suggestions, Chrome will track users’ previous selections and present options accordingly. Currently, these new customization features are exclusively available to desktop users of Chrome.
The recently added side panel in the Chrome browser is being equipped with a variety of gradient hues, allowing users to modify the overall look of the browser according to their preferences.
“You can test out different colours, themes and settings in real time by opening a new tab in Chrome and clicking the ‘Customise Chrome’ icon in the bottom right corner. A new side panel will open with the available customisation features. Here, you can experiment with different features and easily see how they will show up on your New Tab page as you make changes. Our new side panel remembers your customisation edits as you go,” reads the official blog post by Google.
Chrome browser has expanded its collection of background image options, providing users with more choices. In addition to the existing categories like ‘Landscape’ and ‘Seascapes’, users will now find additional categories based on the artists’ locations and heritage.
Additionally, Chrome users now have access to a wider selection of background image options, including categories such as Native American Artists, LGBTQ Artists, Latino Artists Collection, and Black Artists Collection. Furthermore, Chrome plans to introduce pictures taken or influenced by additional artists and communities in the near future, expanding the range of customization settings available to users.
The technology giant has provided a sneak peek of the upcoming features that Chrome users can anticipate, with the official announcement being made through a tweet on Twitter.
“If you have trouble picking just one image, you can enjoy a rotating background by clicking on any theme collection and turning on the ‘Refresh daily’ toggle. Or, if you use Profiles to keep your work and personal accounts separate, try giving each Profile a distinct background and colour to differentiate between them,” states the blog.
