Google Docs adds this new feature to its Workspace Individual service – Times of India

Google introduced the Workspace Individual service as an “upgrade for one-person businesses” that uses “@gmail.com accounts to run their companies” in 2021. The tech giant has explained that businesses run by individuals — like event planning or digital content creation, might face difficulty in staying up-to-date about “contracts and customer agreements” that have to be signed as owners have to keep on “switching between different apps to get work done.” According to a report by 9to5Google, Workspace Individual subscribers will now be able to access eSignature support in Google Docs.

As per the report, Google has confirmed that eSignature support in Docs is “coming soon in Beta to Google Workspace Individual users.” Currently, the company is offering a subscription at a discounted price of $7.99 (roughly around Rs 630) per month (from $9.99) until October 2022. Moreover, Google has also confirmed that other third-party services that work with Docs to offer electronic signature support will also continue to work. The company has explained that if someone is using a “dedicated eSignature solution” it might also work with Google Workspace as it works with several leading providers. However, the company has announced this feature only for the web platform.
Importance of eSignature support in Google Docs
Google has explained that built-in eSignature support will allow users to “quickly execute agreements from the familiar interface of Docs without having to switch tabs or apps.” The report mentions that users can drag and drop signature and date fields onto a text document. As per the report, the eSignature system will also support other features like:
Requesting a signature: Users can request a signature as easily “as sharing a file in Drive,” once all the comments and suggestions have been resolved.
Adding signatures: The signee can easily add their signature when a document is ready to be signed and they won’t need to make any downloads for the same. A completed PDF contract is emailed to both parties once the signature has been added.
Monitoring and tracking progress: This feature will help users quickly check the status of pending signatures and will also help in finding completed signed contracts.
Creating copies of contracts: Users can also ease the process of signature workflows that need to be repeated regularly by making copies of existing contracts and then modifying them as required.
Moreover, Google has also informed that Gmail for Workspace Individual now offers customisable email templates and the company also added the multi-send feature to this service earlier in 2022. Users can also manage those mailing lists with Google Contacts. Apart from these, the company has also added new features to its other services like appointment scheduling is now available in Google Calendar, whereas Google Meet now allows longer calls.
