Google foldable phone patent shows Galaxy Fold-like design with bezel camera
The patent was filed at WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation). It was filed way back in June 2021 and was published earlier today. The patent drawings show the Pixel foldable will have a design that is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.
Google foldable phone patent
As said earlier, the patent was filed at WIPO back in June 2021 and the design is somewhat identical to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. The Google foldable folds in half like a notebook but the bezels around the screen look fairly thick. Like with most foldable with such designs, there will be a crease in the middle that is hard to avoid.
Furthermore, the Google foldable phone in the patent appears to have a selfie camera placed in the top bezel unlike the recent Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 that has the selfie snapper within the screen. The patent description for the same reads, “A camera having an aperture located in a bezel of the second assembly that borders the flexible continuous display.” There should be a cover screen for regular smartphone tasks but the patent doesn’t show the design of the phone folded.
We can speculate the main camera array on the Google foldable phone might be similar to the Pixel 6 series, with a horizontal stripe. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the Pixel foldable phone as there have been multiple renders and patent design leaks in the past as well.
Google Pixel foldable specifications
The Google Pixel Notepad is rumoured to come with a 5.8-inch outer display, which is wider and shorter than the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It will have a wider aspect ratio than the Galaxy Z Fold. It is likely to come with a Tensor chip, a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 primary camera, a 12MP IMX386 ultra-wide-angle lens, and two 8MP IMX355s for selfies. The foldable is expected to come with a Tensor chipset. We should learn more details about the foldable soon.
