Google: Google Calendar gets mute notifications feature for Focus Time – Times of India
To help users concentrate better during their focus time, Google has added a new feature to Calendar. The feature allows users to mute notifications for the duration of their focus sessions. The new feature comes as a bridge between the Do Not Disturb feature in Google Chat and the Focus Time feature in Calendar. Muting notifications will allow users to concentrate better and remove distractions for better productivity.
Google Calendar gets mute notifications for Focus Time
The new Google Calendar setting enables users to seamlessly integrate focus time with the “do not disturb” (DnD) feature in Google Chat. Previously, users could set aside time for focus with the focus time entry type in Calendar. When combined with DnD in Chat, they could safeguard their uninterrupted work periods. Now, users can take it a step further by muting Chat notifications directly from their Calendar during focus time.
Availability
The feature is available for users of Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Business Standard, Business Plus, Education Standard, Education Plus, and Nonprofits.
Rollout details
The rollout of this feature will happen gradually. Rapid Release domains will experience a gradual rollout with up to 15 days for feature visibility, beginning on June 28. For Scheduled Release domains, the gradual rollout will commence on July 12 with the same visibility timeline. This phased rollout allows Google to ensure a smooth implementation and address any potential issues that may arise.
In other news, Google has also added a new Q&A and Polls feature for Meet. The feature was earlier available for regular meetings. The Q&A and Polls allow users to better collaborate with others during live-streamed meetings.
