Google: Google I/O 2023: Android 14, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet and more expected at the company’s biggest event of the year – Times of India

Google I/O is the company’s annual developer conference that witnesses the unveiling of some consumer-centric products as well as a preview of what developer solutions, products and technology the Alphabet-owned company is working on.
This year’s event is said to be the biggest one yet because the focus will be on multiple things. There are likely to be announcements regarding artificial intelligence (AI), Android 14 and a bunch of consumer electronics, including the Pixel 7a smartphone and Google Fold – the company’s first foldable phone.
Here is what’s expected from Google I/O 2023 that will take place on May 10 at 10:30 pm IST in India. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube.

Google Pixel Fold
The highlight of this year’s Google I/O will arguably be the Pixel Fold foldable smartphone. Google has already teased the smartphone on social media channels and it looks pretty much like what rumours claimed it to be. The phone has a book-like design like the Samsung Galaxy Fold series and the Tecno Phantom V 5G. It gets three rear cameras and a visor-like camera module.
There is no official word on the phone’s specifications but the rumour mill suggests that the Pixel Fold will sport a 5.8-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable panel. The phone is expected to be powered by Google Tensor G2 processor, is tipped to be priced over $1,700 and is claimed to have “the most durable hinge on a foldable.”
Google Pixel 7a
Google is likely to launch the Pixel 7a at the annual event. The company has teased the phone’s launch in India and it will be available on Flipkart from May 11 in the country.

The Pixel 7a is supposed to be a watered down, affordable version of the Pixel 7 smartphone that was launched in India in October last year. The smartphone is tipped to come with Tensor G2 SoC, 6.1-inch Full HD+ 90Hz display, Android 13 and dual rear camera setup.
Google Pixel Tablet
The Google Pixel Tablet is another device that will be a first for the company. Leaks and reports have suggested that the tablet pretty much fits in with the rest of the Pixel ecosystem.
According to Google, the tablet will come with an included charging dock and speaker that will make it a smart display. As far as the specifications are concerned, the tablet could come with an 11-inch display, Tensor G2 chip, Android 13, 8GB of RAM and a nanoceramic finish.

Android 14
Android 14OS announcements are a staple when it comes to Google I/O. Just like yesteryears, the company is expected to give a preview of Android 14 and features on this next iteration of mobile operating system.
Previous events have also witnessed the launch of several features that are aimed at making the available products and services more useful. This year, Google may roll out passkey support, improved battery life, and tools for more control over users privacy.
Since Google is entering into the foldable smartphones and tablet space, we can also expect OS enhancements for foldables and tablets. It is to be noted that beta for Android 14 is already out and usually, all supported Pixel smartphones get a new Android version in August.

Google Bard
Google has made investments in AI and it is expected that the company will showcase some AI prowess at the annual developer conference. Google is also set to unveil advancements to Search with “generative experiences.”
AI has dominated Google I/O conferences in the past and the topic is set to take the centrestage this year as well due to a boost in this space.
Reports suggest that the company will unveil PaLM 2, its most recent and advanced large language model (LLM) that includes more than 100 languages and has been operating under the internal codename “Unified Language Model.”
