Google: Google starts rolling out new feature to Meet’s picture in picture mode in Chrome – Times of India

Google is updating its video conferencing platform— Google Meet— by adding new features to the picture-in-picture (PiP) mode. The PiP mode enables users to work in other windows on their desktops without having to exit the application. The picture-in-picture feature on Google Meet has been available on Chrome browsers since last year.
Users can now access any tab on the Chrome browser while being on the call. Additionally, Google Meet users will now be able to see up to four video tiles of meeting attendees in a floating window on top of any application.
“Our new picture-in-picture experience provides greater flexibility when screen sharing or navigating to a relevant screen for a more dynamic experience,” the company said in a blog post.
According to the company, the picture-in-picture feature in Google will now enable users to raise their hand, turn captions on and off, access flexible layouts, and more.
Better flexibility
Apart from this, users can also pin multiple video feeds which will provide better flexibility in how you combine people and content. The feature will allow users to adjust the view in a way that it serves them the best. When it comes to multitasking, users can edit, monitor and make notes while being on a call.
“We hope these features make it easier for presenters and meeting attendees to stay engaged with their meeting,” the company added.
Google to roll out viewer mode in Meet
Google has announced plans to roll out a new viewer mode feature in its video conferencing platform, Google Meet. The feature will set everyone as a viewer by default during meetings. The company aims to assist Google Meet users in organising large meetings and “helps reduce potential meeting distractions, such as audio disruptions.” Google Workspace Enterprise Plus customers can now extend the maximum number of meeting attendees to 1,000 which is an increase from 500.
