Google wired 2nd-generation Nest Doorbell: Features
Google’s 2nd-generation Nest Doorbell being a wired device brings added advantage over its battery-powered counterpart. While the design is similar to the last year’s battery-powered Nest Doorbell, it is around 30% smaller than the previous wired version.
Also, the wired power connection allows the doorbell to record footage all day, even without Wi-Fi connectivity. Nest Doorbell comes with built-in storage which, according to Google, can record hours of videos.
Google is also offering three hours of event video history with clips up to five minutes long, rewind to key points, etc at no additional charges. Buyers can further enhance this feature by subscribing to Nest Aware Plus subscription which includes 10 days of 24/7 continuous video history.
The Nest Doorbell supports 960p video recording which isn’t the best found in video doorbells. Despite that, Google has claimed that it’s their clearest video doorbell yet. DxOmark, a website that accesses the lenses and camera, has claimed that this is the best doorbell in terms of clarity.
The latest Nest Doorbell also comes with features like on-device processing, intelligent alerts, activity zones, two-way audio, etc.
The Nest Doorbell is priced at $179.99 in the US and it will be available for purchase starting October 4 in Snow, Ash, Linen and Ivy. Google has not mentioned anything about the device’s India launch.
