Google Maps Street View feature expands to more cities in India

Google Maps Street View is finally available in India. The feature was rolled out in the country last year. It was then available in select cities like Bengaluru, . But now, Street View on Google Maps has been introduced for multiple locations including small villages and towns. 

What is Google Maps Street View?

As the name suggests, Street View stitches together billions of panoramic images to provide a virtual representation of surroundings on Google Maps. It offers a 360-degree view of streets, landmarks, buildings and more. 

Street View’s content comes from two sources – Google and contributors.

For the unversed, Google Maps Street View was first introduced in India a few years back. However, it was banned by the government in 2016 due to concern over security. 

According to a report by Mashable, while most places provide a 360-view, other regions such as Rohtak (Haryana) are only showing static images of the place.

How to use Google Maps Street View on Android 

Step 1- Open Google Maps on your phone

Step 2- Tap on Layers 

Step 3- Here, you will find Street View along with other options like Wildfires and air quality. Tap on Street View

Step 4- Selecting this will mark the streets on your Map in Blue. Next, search location that you wish to view in 360-degree

Step 5- Tap on the location and Google Maps will now show you street view of the area 

How to use Google Maps Street View on Web

Step 1- Go to Google Maps on your laptop.computer

Step 2- Tap on Layers on the bottom left of your screen and then tap on More

Step 3- Here, you will see the Street View option. Enable it

Step 4- Now, you can have a 360-degree view of location of your choice
