Google Messages will let users create profile, new delivery indicators coming soon – Times of India

Google Messages is in for some new upgrades. The latest update will add a new feature to the Messages app, which will allow users to create their own user profile on their platform.
According to a report by Sammobile, a screenshot of the latest profile page was shared by a Reddit user (u/seeareef) which was later recognised by Mishaal Rahman.
How the profile page was discovered
Google Messages profile page was discovered while navigating through the app’s Settings menu in search for profiles.
However, the page is not functional, but once the feature goes live, Google Messages users will be able to create their own profile by adding a photo, name and email address just like other profile pages.
Further, the feature is expected to allow users an option where they will be able to choose who can view their profile– Public, Contacts or Only You.

If users happen to turn their profile to ‘Public’, everyone will be able to view their profile, including those to whom they respond. Whereas if the profile is switched to ‘Contacts’, only the saved contacts will be able to view the profile of the user. When a user’s profile is turned to ‘Only You’, it will reflect neither surface for the public nor contacts.
Currently, the profile page feature is under development, the report adds.
Meanwhile, the search engine giant is also rolling out Google Messages’ new delivery indicators for more beta testers. Here’s how it will appear for users.
Users will see a single circle indicator for sent messages, two circle indicators will be displayed side by side for delivered messages. Also, the indicators will fill up after the text gets read, the report said
Google has started rolling out end-to-end encryption in group chats for Messages to users as a part of the beta program. The feature will help users send one-on-one texts using the Messages app and they will be encrypted so they are private and secure and can only be seen by the sender and recipient. Google initially announced E2EE support for group chats at its I/O event in May 2022.
The app already comes with an integrated end-to-end encryption feature while messaging someone who also has the RCS (Rich Communication Services) chat features enabled. Until now, it has been limited to conversations between two persons and not group chats.
