google: More than 20 Google apps to get makeovers to look good on tablets – Times of India

Google is trying to improve the Android experience on devices with large displays. As top brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme enter the tablet space, Google tries to offer a better experience for Android tablet users. The tech giant introduced the Android 12L earlier this year to improve the experience Android offers on tablets and foldable devices. The company also shared how it’s optimising the Android app experience for larger tablet screens at the ongoing Google I/O 2022 event.
Google apps that will get a makeover for tablets
At this event, the company confirmed that it will be updating over 20 Google apps “to look amazing on large screens.” However, the tech giant didn’t unveil the long list of apps that will be updated. Some of the apps that are confirmed to get a visual makeover include — YouTube Music, Google Maps, Google Photos, Play Store and Google TV. Google has also shared a tweet to confirm the same.

New changes to be added in the updated version of Google apps
The company also offered a brief demonstration of the new tablet experiences which include — a redesigned UI for the YouTube Music app, a multi-view column view for the Messages app and an optimised Google Maps UI filled with information.
Third-party apps to get a makeover as well
Apart from the Google apps, some third-party apps like — TikTok, Facebook, Zoom, and Canva are also likely to receive updates that are aimed toward tablets. Google has mentioned that the company is also working to make it easier for users to find out apps that are optimised for tablets on the Google Play Store.
Google added an affordable smartphone to the Pixel 6 series. The company launched the Google Pixel 6a device at the Google I/O 2022 event. This smartphone will feature a 60Hz OLED display, a Tensor chip, a dual-rear camera setup and a 4306mAh battery unit.
