Google Photos gets new video editing feature, here’s what is it and more – Times of India
Google Photos is perhaps one of the most widely used gallery apps in the Android ecosystem. The app is Android’s default and offers a slew of features such as cloud backup, a wide range of photo and video editing options and more. Android Police has reported that the Photos app is receiving some new video editing features in the form of video effects and improved media controls.
Google Photos lets users add visual effects to videos
With the latest update, the Google Photos app is getting some new special effects for videos. The new video effects can be found under a new Effects tab within the Edit interface. Once users select the Effects option, the Photos app then downloads the newly added effects and then lets users apply them in the video they are editing at the moment.
Google has added 12 new video effects based on different use case scenarios. This includes Dust Max, Black and White Film, Light Leak, and more.
The report mentions that the new video effects are available on the Google Photos app running on both Android 14 Beta 3 and Android 13 operating systems. This means the new feature is not restricted to the latest version of Android.
Video playback controls are getting a redesign
In addition to adding new video effects, Google has also updated the video playback controls to make things easier for users. The Photos app now features some new buttons for media playback. In addition to the play and pause buttons, users will now also see skip forward and backward buttons in the interface.
Moreover, Google has removed the old floating box style and brought in a full-screen view. This particular change is not only applicable to Photos but also to other Google apps.
