Google Photos rolls out Memories feature for web users – Times of India
Google is rolling out Memories feature to Photos for the web. The feature was first announced in October this year and is already available for mobile app users. It is now rolling out to web users of the app. Memories feature in Google Photos highlights photos and videos in an Instagram-stories like format.
With the new Memories feature, web users of Google Photos will see a carousel of photos and videos. Once clicked, the carousel will expand to show stories like interface spending 10 seconds on each photo and video.
Users can also press the down key or tap on the down arrow available at the bottom of the screen. This will expand the highlights into a list of boxes for the user to browse through them manually.
Also, Memories on the web will share a user’s phone settings. This means that settings on both mobile and web will be synced. Likewise, people or dates hidden from memories on mobile will not show up in the web carousel.
Earlier this month, Google announced the Locked Folder feature for Photos for non-Pixel users. Announced in June this year, the feature allowed users to hide selected photos and videos from the app’s main grid search. As announced by Google, users will not be able to take screenshots when inside the Locked Folder in Google Photos. Users can perform only two actions for such photos. They can either delete them permanently or move them out of the Locked Folder.
