Google Play Store now show ads in search bar – Times of India

Google has brought ads to the search on the Play Store. This adds to the ads that were already present on the platform.
Previously, when you tapped the Google Play search bar, you only saw your last four queries. However, now you may see sponsored suggestions and up to three “limited-time events,” with your past searches appearing below them.
Users are now seeing “sponsored suggestions” marked as “Ad” in their search results. Limited-time events, which were used to promote upcoming sporting matches or in-game events, most often displayed as cards on the Play Store’s home page, are now also appearing in search history with the app’s name, icon, rating, and download count.
These ads may include ads for apps or events for apps that you might have never searched for. So, there will be up to three slots for ads, which could either include sponsored suggestions or limited-time events, and then there will be your last four searches.
Google notes that these slots are not paid for but rather being used to give a wider reach to app developers.
“These are not paid ads. Google Play is testing an organic discovery feature to highlight apps and games with major updates, ongoing events, or offers that users may be interested in. We’re testing this feature to help Google Play users find more joyful and useful experiences and to support our developer ecosystem,” a Google spokesperson told 9to5Google.
Additionally, a minor adjustment has been made to the interface, which now displays larger icons besides previous searches to improve their accessibility.
Google announced a change in their system updates in April, which has been gradually implemented in recent weeks. Furthermore, Google has provided more information about other Play Store updates, such as displaying “key app and game highlights from what others are saying” in Play search results.
