Google rolls out ChromeOS 107: Bug fixes, security updates and more – Times of India

After rolling out the stable version of Chrome 107, Google has started rolling out ChromeOS 107 for Chromebooks and other laptops with multiple new features. The new version will add bug fixes and security updates to ChromeOS devices. In the release note, the tech giant mentioned that access to bug details and links will be kept restricted until most users are updated with a fix. Google will restrict details about the bug(s) that exists in a third-party library but haven’t been fixed yet. The company also assures that security researchers have been involved in the development cycle to prevent security bugs from reaching the stable channel.
ChromeOS 107: Save Desk for Later
The new ChromeOS 107 update adds two new improvements to Desks, a feature that allows users to manage multiple virtual desktops (desks) on a single machine. ChromeOS users can add desks to organise multiple windows and multitask.

According to a report by 9to5Google, the new version of ChromeOS will allow users to quickly “Save desk for later“ from the Overview screen with a button that seems to appear above the left-most window. On clicking this button, users will be reportedly taken to a new “Saved for later” page that will be available on the right of the “New desk” option.
ChromeOS users can add a name to this desk, check its creation date and can also see the open app icons. By tapping it, users can immediately launch and restore the desk.
The new version has also added a button to close a desk and its windows. By hovering over an open desk users will get an “Undo” prompt at the bottom of their screen to close it. The report adds that Google is also testing a desk merging capability.
ChromeOS 107: Files app “Recent” view
Apart from this, the Files app will also get a redesigned “Recent” view with ChromeOS 107. The new view will include a new “Documents” filter. Apart from being a continuous list, it will now be sorted by time.

ChromeOS 107: Keyboard shrotcuts
ChromeOS 107 also adds new shortcuts to access accented letters. Users can simply long-press the letter on both virtual keyboards and physical keys to get an accented version. Users can also manually enable this feature if it doesn’t arrive automatically with the update.
