Government has an important message for these Aadhaar cardholders – Times of India

It has been more than 13 years since Aadhaar card was rolled out as a proof of identity. Over the years, Aadhaar card has become one of the most important document an Indian citizen can have. Your PAN, mobile number, bank account, even Covid-19 vaccinations certificate is linked to the all-important Aadhaar card. UIDAI, the government body for all things Aadhaar, has now issued an important message for Aadhaar cardholders.
In a press release, UIDAI said that Aadhaar number has emerged as proof of identity of the individual. It is essential that Aadhaar cardholders — since Aadhaar number is being used to avail various government schemes and services — keep the Aadhaar data updated with the latest personal details so that Aadhaar authentication/authentication is done.
UIDAI says that anyone who had made their Aadhaar 10 years ago and have never updated in these years, need to update their details immediately.
There will be a prescribed fee which will have to be paid to update the documents for Aadhaar cardholders. Once the fee is paid, cardholders can update personal identity proof (POI) and proof of address (POA) documents in Aadhaar data. However, it has been made clear what is the amount of fee that has to be paid.
Furthermore, the facility to update documents — for those who haven’t updated in the last 10 years — can be accessed via My Aadhaar portal or residents can also visit any nearby enrolment centre to avail it.
