Graham Potter could walk straight into new job after Chelsea sack
Graham Potter could make an instant Premier League return after Chelsea confirmed his sacking on Sunday. The 47-year-old coach has suitors elsewhere in the top flight, despite a disastrous spell at Stamford Bridge that led to his dismissal less than seven months after taking charge.
According to the Mail, Leicester City have been long-term admirers of Potter, who made a name for himself in the Premier League at Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Foxes are also on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Brendan Rodgers earlier on Sunday.
Rodgers leaves the King Power Stadium with Leicester in 19th after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace extended their winless run to seven games.
So the club’s next appointment will be crucial as they look to avoid a shock relegation to the Championship.
TalkSPORT add that Potter was on Leicester’s radar earlier this season after they suffered a nightmare start, and they could offer him a rapid comeback.
Potter’s stock soared after he became Brighton boss in 2019, catching the eye with an attractive style of play involving relentless chance creation.
Chelsea offered him his big break in September after Todd Boehly sacked Thomas Tuchel, handing him a five-year contract worth in the region of £50million.
However, Potter won just seven of his 22 Premier League games at the helm, overseeing the Blues’ slump from sixth to 11th during his tenure.
Chelsea are 12 points behind fourth-place Manchester United, having played a game more.
