Hansal Mehta’s Scoop OTT release date out: where to watch online
Famed director Hansal Mehta is bringing his next big directorial venture, Scoop, to Netflix. Releasing on June 2nd on the streaming platform globally, Scoop is a Web series that is based on Jigna Vora’s biographical book Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison. This crime drama series will follow the journey of an investigative crime journalist, Jagruti Pathak, who is in search of the truth.
After the success of Scam 1992 on SonyLIV, Hansal Mehta is back in his directorial debut for a Netflix-exclusive series. Notably, the project was first announced in February 2022 and is currently set for release early next month as part of Netflix India’s June 2023 slate.
Scoop cast
Scoop will feature actors like Karishma Tanna, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Harman Baweja, and Devesh Bhojani in lead roles, as it attempts to show the chronicles of a brave crime journalist who puts her life at stake to pursue the story of her career. The series is said to be inspired by the real life story of Jigna Vora, on whose book it is based.
The 58-second teaser trailer shared by Netflix shows an action-packed, intense crime drama with gunshots, courtroom drama, car chases, kidnapping, and a thumping soundtrack that is likely to keep everyone hooked to their seats. It ends with protagonist Jagruti Pathak saying, “Main Jagruti thi, ab main inme se ek hoon” (I was Jagruti earlier, but now I am one of them).
Hansal Mehta is also reportedly working on Scam 2003, a follow-up to the popular Scam series that touches upon the biggest financial scandals of modern India. The upcoming series is expected to revolve around the chronicles of Abdul Karim Telgi and the 2003 stamp paper scam carried out by him.
