Harmanpreet Kaur: Roger Binny, VVS Laxman to speak to Harmanpreet Kaur about her outburst: Jay Shah | Cricket News – Times of India
However, BCCI president Roger Binny and NCA head VVS Laxman, the two gentlemen cricketers of their respective generations, will talk to the temperamental Indian women’s team captain.
“We will have our president and Laxman speaking to her about her outburst. We are not going to challenge her suspension. Anyway, the time period to appeal the suspension has passed,” Jay Shah said.
Kaur was slapped a two-match ban by the ICC for her boorish behaviour during the third women’s ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka where the Indian skipper was held guilty on two charges — equipment abuse and public criticism of match officials. She was also fined 75 percent of her match fee.
“Harmanpreet Kaur has been suspended for the next two international matches following two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct,” said the ICC in a statement on Tuesday.
Harmanrpreet was adjudged leg before off a Nahida Akter delivery while trying to sweep but she claimed that she got a bottom edge and in a fit of rage shattered the stumps before walking back to the pavilion.
Later at the post match presentation ceremony, she termed the level of umpiring as “pathetic” and also sarcastically mentioned the umpires too should be called to join the teams for the trophy handing-over ceremony.
Her rude behaviour had prompted Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana to walk away with her team and urge her Indian counterpart to learn some “manners”.
Harmanpreet can only play if India reach Asian Games final
Due to thw two-match ban, India captain Harmanpreet will only be able to play in the Asian Games if her team reaches the final of the mega event starting September 23 in Hangzhou. Four teams in both men’s and women’s events — India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh — will be directly playing from the last eight stage, courtesy the ICC T20I ranking on June 1.
