Harry Kane makes Man Utd and Arsenal demand of Tottenham team-mates after beating Man City

Harry Kane has demanded Tottenham produce a consistent run of wins after stunning Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday night. Spurs battled to a 3-2 victory in a breathless Etihad encounter in which Kane scored twice including the crucial stoppage-time winner.

Spurs’ breathtaking three points came after three successive Premier League defeats which had harmed their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

They took the lead three times but it looked as though City would take at least a point after Riyad Mahrez made it 2-2 from the penalty spot in the second of seven minutes added on.

But Spurs went up the other end to re-establish a late lead in front of a euphoric away end just three minutes later as Kane headed in from Dejan Kulusevski’s cross.

The win however moves them four points behind Manchester United with two games in hand on the Red Devils, who will play again before Spurs when they take on Leeds United on Sunday.

They will be a maximum of seven points ahead of Antonio Conte’s side after that match with Spurs then able to win nine points from their three extra matches, one of which comes against Arsenal, another of their top-four rivals.

West Ham, who sit fifth, and seventh-placed Wolves will also have a say in who qualifies for the Champions League. Wolves are six points back on United but also have two games to play.

And Kane is eager for the north Londoners to develop some consistency in the coming weeks after stamping his mark at City.

He told Sky Sports post-match: “It was a crazy game. We worked so hard for so long. We were 2-1 ahead for such a long time in the second half.

“To see the penalty awarded was so heartbreaking, but credit to the boys for creating another chance at the end.

“For me it was [about ending] three losses in a row and we had to find a way of getting our season back on track.

Son added of Man of the Match Kane: “He scores so many goals. When he didn’t score the goals at the start of the season I was quite sad because he was working for the team.

“You could see today he was working hard, it’s just unbelievable, unbelievable player too but also an unbelievable guy. Working with him is a big honour.”
