Harry Kane sent transfer message by Sergio Ramos as Real Madrid plot move

Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has told Harry Kane that he cannot turn down the opportunity to play for the Spanish giants if they come calling between now and the start of next season. Kane’s existing deal will run out in the summer of 2024 and it has been widely reported that a move elsewhere could soon be on the horizon for the England skipper if he fails to commit his future to Tottenham over the coming weeks.

Real Madrid are believed to have a keen interest in bringing Kane to the Bernabeu in order to serve as Karim Benzema’s immediate successor following his expected move to Saudi club Al-Ittihad in the near future. Manchester United have also been credited with a desire to land the Spurs talisman as Erik ten Hag seeks a new first-choice striker to lead the line for the Red Devils next season.

Kane is reported to have strong reservations about moving abroad to pursue the next stage of his career away from Tottenham, which suggests that United could have the upper hand in the race to secure his signature, although Ramos believes that it would be foolish for any player to reject Real Madrid’s advances if they are approached by them.

“My advice to any player is don’t turn down the opportunity to play for Real Madrid, it is a special club who know how to win,” said Ramos as reported by The Mirror.

“He [Kane] has an incredible physical presence. You can’t score as many goals as he does in the Premier League and not be able to play the physical side of the game, but also he can play the technical side of the game as well and I don’t think he gets enough credit for that. Yes, he is a great goalscorer, but also he is a great football player as well.”

Ramos went on to insist that only a special forward will be able to fill the void left by Benzema’s exit at Real Madrid, with the Frenchman having played some of the best football of his career over the last couple of seasons.

“He [Benzema] has contributed to so much success with Real Madrid you will never be able to replace him,” added Ramos. “He is one of those players who is unique in the history of Madrid. What you do need to do though is bring in a quality forward who can come in and score goals. Not everybody can play for Real Madrid as there is so much pressure and expectation so it needs to be the right player.”

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will eventually be able to sign Kane, with Tottenham reportedly desperate to avoid selling him before the new Premier League season gets underway. An initial bid is already under discussion behind closed doors at the Bernabeu, according to AS, although it is expected to include a transfer fee of just £68m which represents less than half of Tottenham’s reported asking price of £200m.
