Harry Kane will ‘only choose Man Utd’ as Daniel Levy left with transfer dilemma
Tottenham may be forced to sell Harry Kane to a direct rival in the summer to avoid losing him for free in 12 months’ time with the 29-year-old reportedly only interested in joining Manchester United, according to reports. Spurs chief Daniel Levy is more open to the idea of selling his skipper to Bayern Munich but with Kane fast approaching Alan Shearer’s record 260-goal Premier League tally, the Englishman has no intention of playing abroad.
According to reports from The Sun, Kane is set on playing for the Red Devils and is willing to run down his current deal to make the move happen. Kane’s Tottenham contract will expire in the summer of 2024 meaning the north Londoners are running out of time to cash in on their star man.
It is understood that Kane is Erik ten Hag’s top summer target and he is willing to fork out a fee in excess of £100million to acquire his services. Kane doesn’t have many options available to him in the Premier League with Chelsea perhaps the only other possibility, which would threaten his reputation with the Spurs fans.
Newcastle United could no doubt match the nine-figure valuation of the player but are said to be looking to make smart business decisions in the summer. They already have Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak at St James’ Park.
Outside of Man Utd, the main interest for Kane comes from Bayern Munich, who are reportedly prepared to put in an attractive offer to entice him to Germany. The Bavarian giants have had their eye on Kane since the departure of Robert Lewandowski last year.
They have struggled for goals ever since losing the Polish poacher and came close to not winning the Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years this season only for Borussia Dortmund to throw it away on the final day.
Eric Choupo-Moting slotted in as a makeshift replacement down the home stretch but has never scored more than 10 goals in a league campaign. Bayern want a 20-plus goal striker and Kane fits that billing having done so for Tottenham on six different occasions.
Regardless of where and when he goes, it is unlikely Kane will still be a Tottenham player by 2025 given his contract expires next summer. If Spurs do not sell him this summer, he could quit the club on a free transfer next year.
