Hearn ‘accepts’ Fury offer for Joshua fight as venue ‘confirmed’

Eddie Hearn has reportedly accepted Tyson Fury’s offer for a blockbuster all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua on AJ’s behalf. According to reports, Joshua has accepted a 60/40 purse split for a fight at the Millennium Stadium – also known as the Principality Stadium – in Cardiff, Wales on December 17.

This information was disclosed by Fight Hub TV founder, Marcos Villegas, who tweeted on Wednesday morning: “Just finished speaking to Eddie Hearn. Confirmed that he did receive terms from Fury/Warren for #FuryJoshua fight – 60/40 split for Dec 17th at Millennium stadium with a rematch clause. Eddie told me “We accept” but noted Fury/Warren offered Nov 12th as the date for the fights.

“They sent for Nov 12 60/40 split. Eddie responded with accepting 60/40 on AJ behalf but said AJ couldn’t be ready until Dec 17th. Said Warren had Dec 17th already saved/held.”

The news comes after Fury’s promoter Frank Warren confirmed on Tuesday that he would be sending Joshua an official written offer for a fight against The Gypsy King. Originally, Fury was set to face Oleksandr Usyk in the first undisputed heavyweight unification clash of the four-belt era at the back end of this year.

Speaking about the fight during a recent interview with Ring Magazine, Fury said: “He would be a massive underdog, so he’s in a win-win situation. If everyone expects him to lose and he beats me, then he’s back on top and bigger than ever.

“And if he’s lost three, what difference does it make if he loses four? Four losses means nothing. Look at Derek Chisora, he’s had 12 losses and he’s still battling away. And in terms of DAZN, the fight can be on BT pay-per-view and DAZN pay-per-view.”
