Here’s how you can earn money by uploading youTube videos: do you meet these conditions?

Earning money on YouTube

YouTube encourages content creators to create videos and share the revenue generated by the ads placed on the platform. YouTube announced that a creator qualifies for the Partner Program if:

  • The creator has 500 subscribers.
  • At least three public uploads in the past 90 days.
  • At least 3,000 watch hours in the last year, or 3 million shorts views in the last 90 days.

The new requirements are well below what YouTube had earlier set as criteria for monetising YouTubers on the platform. When creators reach the new threshold, they can apply to be part of the YPP and get access to tipping tools like Super Thank, Super Chat, Super Sticker, and subscription tools.

Previously, YouTube creators were required to complete a checklist of requirements to qualify for monetisation that included a combination of having 1,000 subscribers and achieving either 4,000 viewing hours in the past year or at least 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days to join the program.

As per the platform, the new terms and conditions will be effective starting next month. They will be first available to creators in Canada, the UK, South Korea, Taiwan, and the US and will be rolled out to other countries later.

To enroll in the program, eligible creators must visit YouTube Studio and follow these steps:

  • Select Earn from the left menu.
  • Select “Apply Now” to review and accept the basic terms and conditions.
  • Choose Start to set up an AdSense account.
  • Users can also link an existing account if they have one.
