Amid the release of various foldable smartphones by brands, including Samsung, OPPO, Motorola and others, Nothing CEO Carl Pei said it is good that some brands are on it, but Nothing is not planning to launch foldable phones “anytime soon.”
Nothing foldable phones not in the works
In an exclusive interview with India Today, the Nothing CEO made it clear they have no plans to release a foldable phone, despite rumours suggesting otherwise. Pei considers these devices to be “niche products.”
“Not anytime soon. I don’t think consumers walk around saying, ‘Hey, I wish my phone could fold.’ I think it’s an innovation that the manufacturers are pushing on to the consumer,” the Nothing CEO was quoted as saying.
Pei said it is good that some brands are building it. However, he mentioned, “if you look at how the foldables are evolving, they are all the same again.”
The CEO’s thoughts on foldable smartphones likely indicate at similar designs that we generally see on different generations of foldable phones.
