Hideo Kojima is not involved in Metal Gear Solid Delta development

Series creator will not be a part of remake production

Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima will not be involved with the development of upcoming remake Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater — The publisher clarified the situation in a recent interview with IGN, confirming what many fans had already assumed.

“They are not involved,” a Konami spokesperson noted. “However, the development team will work hard to create this remake and also the ports (for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection) so that they can be enjoyed on multiple platforms by even more players all around the world.”

Metal Gear Solid Delta, a full remake of the acclaimed 2004 sequel Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, will be handled by Konami’s own in-house developers, led by Singapore-based studio Virtuos Games — which has worked on franchises including Uncharted, Call of Duty, Horizon, and Dark Souls. Konami is confident that the team can produce a Metal Gear Solid title with the authenticity of quality expected by the fanbase. Konami notes that players can expect a “faithful remake” of the fan-favorite PS2 release.

Despite creating the series back in 1987, Hideo Kojima effectively cut ties with the Metal Gear series upon departing Konami in 2015. Kojima’s Studio, Kojima Productions, is currently hard at work on the sequel to its 2019 post-apocalyptic adventure, Death Stranding.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X.
