Hogwarts Legacy Launch Trailer Shows Off A Huge Magical World With Mystery And Danger

Hogwarts Legacy, the big upcoming Harry Potter game, releases this month after multiple delays and controversy surrounding author JK Rowling. The game’s launch trailer has now landed, showing off what players can expect in the magical open-world game.

Players come to Hogwarts as a fifth-year student in the 1890s, long before the events of the books. In addition to exploring the castle and learning spells, players will venture beyond the castle walls. The player character has the rare ability to see “whispers of ancient magic,” and this informs their journey. Hogwarts Legacy releases on February 10, though players who buy the more expensive edition can get a jump start and kick off their magical careers on February 7. Fans have been waiting a long time for the game, as it was originally slated to arrive in 2021 before being shifted to 2022 and then again to 2023. It releases for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in February followed by a launch in April for PS4 and Xbox One. The Switch edition comes last, arriving in July 2023.

The game is developed by Avalanche Software, the team behind the Disney Infinity series that worked on that franchise until it was canceled. Warner Bros. Games acquired the studio in 2017.
