How Elon Musk plans to ‘Steam’-roll Tesla’s competition – Times of India

Elon Musk is planning to get the gaming platform Steam onboard the Tesla cars. The tech billionaire and Tesla CEO recently posted on Twitter that the company is making progress with the Steam integration on Tesla cars and the demos for the Steam porting would probably begin from next month.

The idea is fantastical and we are sure it would perk up gaming enthusiasts in the upper echelons of the society who already have or are planning to get a Tesla but it warrants a closer look as Tesla cars have seen their share of troubles over the past months and their trustworthiness and reliability has been called into question in the US. Thousands of several Tesla models have been recalled in the US due to various reasons like touchscreen issues due to overheating, windshield defrosting, rear view camera problems, etc. The recalls happened in December last year, plus in February, April and May this year. The autopilot on the cars has also courted controversies. So yeah, it could be nice to have a Steam setup inside the car but unless and until the safety of the passenger is ensured, would people really want to go for a Tesla just for this added feature? That’s a question every potential buyer should be asking.
As for the electric vehicle market, if Steam gets confirmed to go onboard a Tesla car, it would be the first for any electric car. Tesla cars already come with a built-in Tesla Arcade which offers several games like Cuphead and Sonic the Hedgehog 1, but getting Steam would be something else.
