It was good to be the “Gypsy King” last year, Tyson Fury. The WBC heavyweight champion made £40 million in 2021, or about $54 million. However, the amount he paid in dividends was significantly less.
According to The Sun, Fury paid himself just £70,000, or $94,700. This comes after he made £20 million ($27 million) just for his third fight against Deontay Wilder in October. Fury secured about $5 million for the second fight in 2020, $25 million total if you include pay-per-view numbers.
“He’s not extravagant or flamboyant like some boxers are and lives a very modest lifestyle,” someone close to the Fury camp told The Sun. “He is ensuring his family is comfortable for generations to come and that’s humbling.”
Fury would end up taking £2,000 ($2,700) from his firm, Tyson Fury Ltd., before the second fight against Wilder. Known for his colorful clothes, Fury has used his money to buy cars and another home for his family.

A 2008 English National Championships gold medalist, Fury made his boxing debut in 2008. An English, British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion, Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 for the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles. The lineal champion, Fury fought to a draw with Wilder in 2018 and has won four in a row since then.
Fury beat Wilder via TKO in 2020 after the latter’s corner stopped the fight following multiple knockdowns. He knocked Wilder out in the 11th round of their fight in October.
The next matchup for Fury may be against Dillian Whyte. Whyte, however, is upset at the 80/20 purse bid that could happen with this matchup. Eventually, Fury is looking to make a significant payday from a heavyweight unification fight between the winner of Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. That fight, for the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles, is a rematch from September, when Usyk beat Joshua for the belts.
